WYRD(Porject in progress)

Game Project

WYRD is a role-playing strategy game in which the player controls the three Wyrd Sisters. By adopting an omniscient view and supernaturally manipulating the environment and characters around Macbeth, the player’s aims to send Macbeth down his murderous spiral.
The gameplay takes inspiration from role-playing games such as Disco Elysium, Citizen Sleeper and Transistor, and consists of a “plan” phase and an “execution” phase. At the beginning of each gameplay loop, the player is faced with a series of checks (with varying difficulty) that appear in various rooms in Macbeth’s castle. Six randomly generated dice rolls are given to the player at the beginning of each loop, and are applied strategically to the given checks during the plan phase. Passing the check results in a successful supernatural manipulation that can cause Macbeth and characters to become less sane, whereas enough failures can eventually lead to the Wyrd Sisters’ deaths. Once the player has applied all rolls to corresponding checks they move into the “execution” phase, where they witness the consequences of their manipulation.
Planned Features
Checks:
A series of predetermined checks that spawn in at specific locations at the beginning of each plan phase. Things to consider: each check has a success/fail state and corresponding consequences, which might branch into many possibilities quickly.

Plan Phase:
Six (tentative) dice rolls are generated at the beginning of the plan phase. Players can then assign rolls to checks, leaving the higher rolls for more difficult checks or opting to fail a check on purpose. Once the player finalizes their roll assignment they move into Execute Phase.

Execute Phase:
Player has no input during this phase, and watches as a “cutscene” of their choices play out. For video reference, see the plan and execution phases of Transistor.

Dialogue:
Failure to complete certain checks triggers dialogue between the Wyrd Sisters.

Sanity Meter (tentative):
Important characters (Macbeth and Lady Macbeth) have sanity meters. Once depleted, they can be driven to kill Duncan.
Tentative Ending:
Game concludes when Macbeth kills Duncan.
